Our story. Our values.

Tom and Alina are the founders of Pure Maintenance Australia.

We never intended to get into the mould business - it found us!

We had created one of the most amazing trail running events in the world, Ultra-Trail Australia, had sold it to The Ironman Group and moved to Jindabyne to live in the mountains.  Then it struck - Tom became ill in our newly purchased home.  It took a bit of investigating, talking to lots of different people and medical experts but eventually we found the cause - mould under the carpets in the chipboard flooring of our bedroom.  Knowing how bad mould is for your health and not wanting our family exposed to a toxic environment we gutted the bathrooms, bedrooms, laundry and living rooms and replaced floors, ceiling and walls.

We got in traditional mould remediators and they scrubbed back mouldy looking beams and wiped lots of surfaces.  We took everything out of the house and put it in storage.  When the renovations were completed we brought back all our possessions and the mould remediators cleaned and scrubbed everything as it came back into the house, they HEPA vacuumed and set up air scrubbers.  We moved into our home over half a million dollars later but relieved we would now be free from mould exposure.  But a couple of weeks later and Tom’s mould symptoms returned - tingling legs and arms, heart palpitations, extreme tiredness, irritability.  We did air tests - there was still mould present.  Interestingly, despite being many of the toxic moulds present there was never any of that ‘mouldy’ smell in the house.

The only solution was for us to get Pure Maintenance to treat our home.  Problem was they were in the USA and COVID had hit.  We were so desperate we would have paid for them to come out to Australia and treat our home with their special technology - but they couldn’t.  So we bought a Pure Maintenance license and had the equipment sent out.  We learnt the processes over zoom and treated our home.  Now we have a healthier home and a mould remediation business!

After going through the traditional mould remediation process and then the Pure Maintenance process, we can see why the traditional methods are not effective. The problem is not just the mould you see but more so the mould toxins floating around in the air that you breath. Once the building gets to a certain mould load, you have to treat the whole building including the air to kill ALL the mould.

So, these are the steps:

The Pure Maintenance process is not a simple walking around with a spray bottle.  It is a full sanitisation process where we fill each room with a dry fog making it look like a complete whiteout.  The particles can get everywhere mould can get.  You leave all your possessions to be treated and so everything is treated - curtains, beds, sofas, clothes etc.  The mould is killed.
